With up to €20 million available per month from March to July 2026, this scheme offers meaningful relief to agri businesses facing sustained fuel costs.

Payments will be based on verified 2025 fuel usage, meaning those with higher usage stand to receive the greatest support, making it essential to have your records in order before the portal opens.

Four steps to take before the portal opens

1. Gather your 2025 fuel purchase records

Collect all invoices, receipts, and delivery dockets from 2025. Payments will be based on verified usage, so having complete records is critical.

2. Confirm your tax compliance

Tax compliance is a stated eligibility condition. If there are any outstanding issues with Revenue, address them before applying.

3. Check that registrations are current

Ensure herd numbers, farm registrations, and any relevant licences are all active and up to date.

4. Apply promptly when the portal opens

With approximately 120,000 farmers and 1,500 contractors expected to apply, don't delay. A single application covers both farmers and agricultural contractors.

The portal is expected to open in mid-May 2026. Details are subject to finalisation by the Department of Agriculture, so it is worth monitoring gov.ie and ifac communications for the latest updates.
