Coming together for our first ifac Volunteer Day

At ifac, community has always been at the heart of who we are. We live and work in towns and villages all over Ireland, so when we decided to introduce a Volunteer Day this year, we knew it had to make a meaningful local impact.

Over the summer months, teams from our offices across Ireland stepped away from their desks, rolled up their sleeves, and joined forces with charities, community groups, and local initiatives that do incredible work right on our doorsteps.

The projects were as varied as the communities we serve — from TidyTowns clean-ups, tree planting, and community garden maintenance, to brightening day centres, raising funds for hospice care, helping in schools and care homes, and supporting environmental initiatives. Some teams painted fences and walkways, others tended to flowers and wildlife habitats, while many got stuck into litter picks, playground refurbishments, or bringing joy to residents in care homes with music, dancing, and treats.

What made the day so special wasn’t just the work we did, but the connections we made. Whether it was meeting local volunteers, chatting with the people who benefit from these initiatives, or seeing the pride in a freshly cleaned park or a newly painted community space, the sense of shared purpose was inspiring.

As our CEO, John Donoghue, summed it up: “It’s not about one big project in one place – it’s about all of the small acts that together make a huge difference.”

We’re proud of what we achieved together in our very first series of Volunteer Days, and grateful to the charities and community groups who welcomed us in. Most of all, we’re thankful to every member of our team who gave their time, energy, and skills to help others.
