Our advice for Irish agricultural exporters

Exporting is both a challenge and an opportunity. Based on our own experience, here are the key things to keep in mind:

People, people, people

  • Sales is a relationship business.

  • Meeting customers in person is invaluable for building trust and understanding.

Get on the plane

  • Once you’ve qualified a market opportunity, go there.

  • Don’t rely solely on emails or video calls to build strong relationships

Build your network

  • Meet other Irish companies already exporting to different markets.

  • Learn from their experiences — it’s a cost-effective way to gather insights.

Leverage the “Ireland Inc” brand

  • Ireland is globally respected for agricultural knowledge and expertise.

  • Use this positive reputation to open doors and gain credibility.

Use Enterprise Ireland

  • If you’re a client, tap into their global office network.

  • They can provide market intelligence, identify potential partners, and arrange market visits.
