Senior Team Balla

Martin joined our Athenry office in 1992 after graduating from GMIT after studying Business Studies/Agri-Business. Originally from Turloughmore in Galway, Martin then moved to Mayo after completing his training. There, he opened our Mayo office in 1996 and has been there since. In January 2020, Martin took over the role of Commercial Manager for ifac. While overseeing our offices nationwide, Martin is still based in our Balla office, Martin specialises in Farm Business advisory and is also our Renewable Energy specialist. Married to Caroline with 4 children, Martin is a keen GAA enthusiast, in particular, Galway hurling.

Grace is an Accounting Graduate from GMIT Galway. She works in the Balla office within a team of 7 and has covered a broad range of different clients from Sole traders to companies. She feels she has gained great experience and learnt from the senior accountants within her office. Grace joined in 2017 and has said of her experience with ifac; “I found training beneficial as twelve of us were brought together to start our graduate journey and learn all ifac systems thoroughly. This was also worthwhile as we started to network from day one and build connections around the country. Not many other accounting firms have this option as they are normally refined to just their office rather than the bigger picture of the company as a whole.”

John is a Food and Agribusiness Management Graduate from UCD who joined ifac in July 2017 through our graduate programme. Of his experience John has said; “It’s been great experience so far as the role with ifac allows me to pursue a career in accountancy and run the beef farm at home. I have found that the trust and responsibility given in the office to work with a wide range of clients including sole traders, farm partnership and companies is down to the graduate training programme and the experiences gained through it. Coming from an agri background and having previously worked with Aurivo as part of my work experience in college, ifac as company really suited me. In addition to accountancy, many clients need further supports and advice in terms of farm schemes, grants etc. so coming from a similar background to many of the clients I deal with has been invaluable. “ Outside of work, John plays football for his local GAA team, Davitts.
